The Artists and Writers of Desert Dog Books

Carol Es is a native Los Angelena born in 1968. A self-taught visual artist, writer, and a drummer, her Artist's books have been collected worldwide and acquired by the Getty Research Library, UCLA Special Collections, and the Brooklyn Museum, to name a few. Having published with small presses in the past, Carol is near completion of her first full-length book of nonfiction, Shrapnel in the San Fernando Valley, which will be released by Desert Dog Books in the early spring of 2019. Michael Phillips played in punk bands in the late 1970s, then went on to travel the world with the reggae band Boom Shaka in the 1980s. In 1996 he published his first collection of poetry and short stories, alternative man, with Mother Road Publications. He has been published by various small presses, as well as self-publishing a number of his other works. Michael is currently working on a memoir about his life as a musician, and ocassionally makes ink art. Check out more of his books at mjpbooks.com.
